PAN Card Valid or Not? Here is How You Can Find Out

There is confusion as to which PAN card is still active. Here is how you can know about it.

New Delhi, August 4: The Central Government has deactivated 11.44 lakh PAN cards on July 27. The reason for the deactivation was that they were multiple cards for same people–which is violative of the principle of one PAN per tax payer. Authorities also identified fake PAN cards, which were either of non-existent people or were issued on false documents. There is confusion as to which PAN card is still valid or not. Here is how you can know about it.

Firstly, log on to www.Incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in–which is the official website to file income tax returns. Then click on the Know Your PAN button which is on the left side of the home page.

The Know your PAN button will take you to the next page. Fill in the details. The text fields will require name, mobile number and other personal details. The phone number furnished should be registered with the authorities. You will receive an OTP at this number. Enter the OTP that you received on your registered number. 

You will be asked about other details if you multiple PAN card. Furnish the details to know the validity of your PAN card.
