New Delhi, Mar 20: This news will be great relief for railway passengers as Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will now be providing cab service too. The railways has tied up with most popular cab aggregator Ola with an aim to provide door to door service to its passengers.
It is a six month pilot project under which railway passengers can book an Ola cab on the IRCTC Rail connect app and website www.irctc.co.in.
The passengers can book cabs up to 7 days in advance or when they arrive at station. And if they miss they can book cabs at IRCTC outlets or Ola’s self-serving kiosks. To book cabs, passengers need to log on to official website of IRCTC.
As soon as passenger will log on to the website or app, they can click on the services section, the commuters can select the ‘Book a Cab’ option. After selecting the preferred cab option, the booking will be confirmed. IRCTC has said that the partnership will aim to provide last-mile connectivity to commuters.  The Ola cab facility will provide all the services such as Ola Micro, Ola Mini, Ola Auto, Ola Share etc. on the same price available directly on the IRCTC Rail Connect App and website.
IRCTC till now provide service of train meals, air tickets and tourism packages. In a bid to attract more passengers, IRCTC always come up with new tie-ups. Recently, railways has also tied up with food chains such as Domino’s, KFC, McDonald’s and Sagar Ratna among others to provide this service. Passengers can also order food of their choice and it will be available but it is provided in selected trains.
