7th Pay Commission: NAC May Submit Report by December 15, Minimum Pay Hike From April

New Delhi, Nov 10: The National Anomaly Committee (NAC), which was formed to resolve all matters related to the anomalies in the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission‘s recommendations, may submit its report on a hike in minimum pay by December 15 and the central government employees will recieve higher minimum pay from April next year, said a Sen Times report quoting Finance Ministry sources. The government may raise minimum pay to Rs 21,000 from Rs 18,000, which was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission or 7th CPC and approved by the Cabinet.

Several reports earlier suggested that the government would raise minimum pay beyond the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission from January. However, the sources in the Finance Ministry said the higher minimum pay will come into effect by April next year at the latest. The NAC report on minimum pay hike would be available by that day (January) and its implementation would be done afterwards in due process, they said.

The government had approved a hike in salary and allowances as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission in June 2016 and July 2017 respectively. The 7th Pay Commission had recommended a 14.27 percent hike in basic pay — the lowest in 70 years and raised minimum pay from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 month. The government has reportedly given green signal to the NAC for hiking minimum pay to Rs 21,000 with fitment factor 3.00 times.

Meanwhile, a leader of a central government employees’ union reiterated the demandfor raising minimum pay to Rs 26,000 from Rs 18,000, which was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission. He also demanded to increase fitment factor 3.68 times from 2.57 times for all central government employees and threatened to go on indefinite strike if demands are not met.

“The inordinate delay in pay hike pay has led to a lot of mental stress and trauma among the central government employees, so we decide, if Finance Minister Arun Jaitley fails to implement pay hike in January, then we would call for a nation wide indefinite strike,” the union leader was quoted as saying.
