New Delhi, November 8: As many as 10 central trade unions have called for a three-day “Relay Dharna” in front of Parliament in New Delhi from Thursday to protest against the delay in pay hike under the 7th Pay Commission and against the apathetic attitude and anti-labour and government employees policy of the BJP led NDA government at the centre.
The unions also decided to launch their protest against the government over giving no heed to their 12-point charter of demands on minimum wage, social security and others.

According to a report, lakhs of workers are expected to attend the “Relay Dharna” which will be carried out for three days.
The unions on Wednesday slammed the accelerated moves taken by the central government to privatise strategic Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) including those engaged in defence production, public sector banks, railways, insurance, oil, power and public road transport.
The unions also called upon government employees and its members to “prepare for indefinite countrywide strike action against the anti-people, anti-national activities of the government”, the statement said.
The trade unions that have called for the protests are: All India United Trade Union Centre (AICCTU), Trade Union Coordination Centre (TUCC), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC); All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU), United Trade Union Congress (UTUC), Labour Progressive Federation (LPF).
The employees union claim that the government has been continuing to arrogantly ignore the 12-point charter of demands on minimum wage, social security, worker’s status and many more.
Earlier in 2016, the unions had organised a nationwide strike to press for their 12-point charter of demands.
